Q: Nursing Schools?
OK, I have a question about becoming a nurse. I am a junior in high school and next year will be my last year. I want to become a RN when I graduate but i have a question. Can I go directly to a nursing school when I graduate or would I have to go somewhere like ODU (4 EX)? Also, can someone let me know of any good nursing schools in VA? Thanx
A: Okay Miss Thugg I will tell you the skinny. If you want to apply for a 4 year degree like at ODU or VCU you have to get your prerequisites done and then apply, that can take 1.5 to 2 years. Or you can go to a junior or community college for a 2 year Associates degree which allows you to sit for your state's board just like the 4 year degree. The only drawback of the 2 year degree is that you have to go back to school if you want to progress to grad school. Good luck ,your needed.

I'm currently a nursing student here in the Philippines and my family is planning go go back there. Do you guys know any Nursing schools at Southern California and Nevada (preferably near Henderson or Las Vegas)?
Can you please include reasons why you think I should try on that school and an estimated range on the tuition fee per semester.
Good nursing schools in terms of quality of education, environment, facilities, and job opotunities when I graduate.
Thank you soooo much!!!

Q: What percentage usually of the current student population to nursing schools usually recruit each semester?
I was asking from a nursing school the number of total students in their nursing department out of the3500 students on their campus, and they only replied back that they accept 68 intakes twice per year for adult nursing and 26 intakes twice per year for mental health nursing.
So , in your estimation, how many nursing students do you they have in total at this campus??
Thanks for your answers!
A: Well if you're trying to figure out how hard it is to get in the program that won't help, it also won't tell you how many people apply to the nursing program, it only tells you how many get in. In my school this year there were 360 applicants for nursing and 180 seats, so only half who applied got in. I know that where I'm from there is no recruiting, theres an overflow of potential student nurses who are trying hard to get into the program.

At the high school I'm attending I am this year taking their nursing program which in when I graduate I will have my LPN license, so I am planning to go on to college tp get both of these degrees...
I live in chattanooga, t.n.
but i am ok wiht going to college outside of tennessee.
A: ... You have a nursing program at your High school? that's different! I was always under the impression you had to go to college to obtain that.
Sort of hard to answer the question when you don't say where you live or where you're interested in studying.
If you're in Ontario, Canada. I'd say McMaster University. It is a well known health science school with a nursing program known all over the world.
Q: When do students actually go out into the hospitals and work in nursing schools?
I plan to attend a nursing school in southern california but i wanted to know when exactly do you go out and go to the hospitals for clinicals and work and learn there.
A: As a high school student, you can work as a volunteer as a "candy striper" at the hospital. Most hospitals offer this, so if you're in high school go check it out!~ I think there is also volunteer opportuninties for people people who graduate high school. I say start with volunteering first, and they'll see your dedication and who knows, maybe land you a job there eventually :) It is a good opportunity to get to know the hospital and the people working in it!

Q: Are there any nursing schools that are easier to get into than most?
I'm currently working on my prerequisites at my community college to try and get into the nursing program there. I want to get my AA and RN there. I eventually want to become a pediatrics nurse. I want to know how exactly should I go about doing this and if I should go to a nursing school (besides the one I'm in now) to do so.
A: well, the accredited state schools (like the California State Universities) are probably much more easier to into than say UCLA, Johns Hopkins, UPenn etc... but its not as good and there is still a good amount of competition though.
Q: Can I apply to several Nursing schools at the same time?
I heard the Chair of the Nursing department at LAVC saying that if you get admitted to one program don't bother applying to theirs. It's kind of unfair, I think, because I really want to be admitted to their school, and the admission dates are after all other colleges. So, if I don't apply anywhere else, and don't get in LAVC because of the lottery, that would really be bad, because I stand a strong chance at other places. Do you know if it is a rule that you can't apply somewhere if you have been admitted to another school already?
A: not that i know of, how do they know if you were admitted elsewhere?
