Q: Does anyone have and info on Preferred Nursing College in the San Fernando Valley?
I am curious about Preferred College of Nursing in the San Fernando for the LVN program, particularly the part-time one. Does anyone know if this is a good, quality program? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A: If your gonna enroll in an LVN I must recommend KAPLAN LVN PROGRAM THEIR IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD ON LAUREL CANYON, AND VICTORY....THEY ARE THE MOST UP TO DATE WITH THEIR NCLEX QUESTIONS AND GREAT REPUTATION..COST ABOUT 28,OOO BUT I WAS ABLE TO APPLY WITH VERY LOW INCOME...previously was a Pierce college RN student in the final semester and my instructor failed me on the final day of the 4th semester of clinicals....they destroyed my life, but i have since moved on to a great RN program but it was like starting all over. I have researched high and low on this topic....what you wanna do is go to the California Board of Registered Nursing and click on schools and then you look at their pass rates this will be good for starters....then look at there requirements for entrance because not all require chemistry I can tell you that Moorpark and College of the Canyons have excellent programs for community colleges although they have about a year waiting list If you can afford 100,ooo in student loans there's West Coast University which offers some good programs but are expensive, but there is no waiting list if i can be of help let me know and Good Luck to you....

I'm writing a book, and one of the character's mother's went to nurse college. She completed it, are there any nurses out there who can give me some pointers about how long average hours are, how long it took you to complete schooling, if you're comfortable with telling me; the average wages, so on. All in the good heart of writing. Thank you.

A: It takes Two Years to finish a Nursing Degree!

Q: Any diploma difference between community college nursing school and hospital nursing school?
For Registered Nurse. In my city, there is a community college with much cheaper tuition than the hospital nursing school. I'd like to know if the diploma is different? Thanks a lot!

A: the diploma would be the same. There's onlhy 3 types of nurses: LVN's at community colleges, RN's (this is the most common and can be obtained at community college or other nursing schools), or BSN (same thing as an RN, but you have a bachelor's, you can do the same things RN's can, but will get paid slightly higher) I recomend going to the community college and getting your RN license!

Q: Should I go the comm. college route or private programs route to get my Nursing Degree?
I mapped out my pre requisites for getting into a community college nursing program with a counselor today and in reality it might take me up to six years for my associates degree! Two years pre-reqs, two years wait-list, and two years actual program. Whatr should I do...I want to work sooner.

A: go to a private med school - private schools give TONS of money (i got accepted to duquesne university and they gave me $13k)

Q: Which college do you believe is the best for nursing?
I will be entering my senior year of high school in the fall & I want to major in nursing in college. Eventually, I would like to be a nurse practitioner or nurse midwife. I get very good grades & am involved in plenty of activities, but I know I cannot afford a private school so I would like to look into Massachusetts state colleges. Which do you believe is the better college: Fitchburg State, Salem State, Umass Boston, or Umass Amherst? Thanks for your help!

A: Definitely UMass Amherst. You should still look at private institutions, for some variety, and they might end up costing a lot less when you find out how much aid they give you -- some of the better-endowed ones will even cover all or almost all of your financial need -- so it's worth looking into. If you do, I recommend BC, Labouré, MCPHS, NEU, and Simmons. They all have good BSN programmes.

Q: What classes do i need to take in highschool in order to go to a nursing college?
lets say i pass all the graduation requirements. what classes do i need to take in order to enroll in a nursing school. like do i need to take calculus or physics and other advanced classes?

A: You would need grade 12 biology, chemistry and math.

Q: Can I go to Nursing school or medical school if I majored in biology in college and have a degree in biology?
I am stuck between being a nurse and pediatrician . If i major in biology instead of premed or nursing in college like a state school, Can I still get accepted into a MASS nursing school with the degree in biology or would i have to major in nursing. Thank you .

A: If you think you want to be a nurse, you must major in nursing for your bachelors degree. You can't be a nurse without an undergraduate degree in nursing. In addition, to get a masters degree in nursing, you must have majored in nursing for your undergrad. So if you think this might be your path, major in nursing for your bachelors degree. To get into med school and become a pediatrician, you can major in anything you'd like for your bachelors degree. You can major in bio, music, art, dance, English, history, or nursing. So long as you also do the med school pre-req courses (which are specific science and math classes) while you're at college, you'll be qualified to apply to med school. UMass Amherst has a very strong nursing program, as does Simmons, Northeastern, Boston College, and UMass Boston. Check into them. UMass is a state school, so it would be a good option.

Q: What is the best way to become a surgical nurse? The college nursing programs I was accepted to seem general.?
What is the best way to become a surgical nurse? The college programs I was accepted to are very general.

A: They all are. Nursing specialization comes with on the job training. So you would get a job in the OR and get trained.

Q: I need to find the top ten junior college nursing programs in the united states?
Anywhere in the states is fine. I really want a good school with a high pass rate on the boards test that nurses take to get their certification. I want a junior college because it is cheeper and has smaller classes thus giving me more of a one on one learning environment. A flexible program is always a plus. Websites included is always nice. Thanks so much for your help. I am looking for an RN program

A: Are you looking for LPN or RN? My alma mater was Western Iowa Tech in Denison, IA. They do have a campus in Souix City (the main branch). I can tell you that it will take about a year or 2 to get your LPN based on your prerequisites. It is a 2 semester course with part 1 in the fall and part 2 in the spring. Had I stayed in Iowa I am sure I would have passed, but alas I went to a different state. They also give you on the job training as a course requirement while you are there.

Q: How to study hard about my Nursing College education?
Please help me for some tips on how to improve my study habits, so that I could deliver good grades in my course, Im a Nursing student

A: I used to work for a nursing department and advise nursing students. Most of the students who were successful often studied in groups, since they had the same classes and were in clinicals together. Always do your assigned readings, and don't wait until they build up. You won't retain the information for the long run that way. I used to manage the readings for several classes in college by taking all of my syllabi, and putting the readings for a particular day in a planner. That way, I can see what I have to do that day without looking at every syllabus. There's never a surprise. Also, what helped me study for tests was using notecards as flashcards for vocabulary and formulas.
