Q: What is the difference between Nurse Aide and a Nurse Assistant?
I want to attend school for the CNA I am relocating to a new area and I know with a medical certification it will be easier to find a job...Can someone please tell me the difference between a nurse aide and a nurse assistant i'm really confused

A: Nurses aide is where you can learn some of the training on the job. It is where you are like an orderly. A nurses assistant is where you have to go to school and to learn the skills that way. It is a little bit of a more advanced role, around the same as an LPN almost.

Q: Can somebody tell me how much a nurse assistant make?
A lot of girls I know are going to the Vocational school for nurse assistant. What's the highest they can make an hour? Is it guaranteed that they'll get a job after they graduate?

A: CNA's typically make in the $9-$12 range. They do a lot of the dirty work though. Most of the CNA"s I have come accross are usually only CNA's before they become LPN's/RN's.

Q: Nurse Assistant?
What does a CNA do? Is it possible for them to make more then min wage?

A: A CNA assists with the personal cares of patients(bathing, dressing, tolieting, positioning, feeding). You may also be asked to assist in obtaining a blood pressure, or a clean catch urine sample. Wiping messy bottoms and vomit will be a necessary part of the job. You must complete a 75 hour course and pass a state exam. It is possible for them to make more than minimum wage, working my way through school I earned 10 an hour. Some earn more, some earn less- depends on your area.

Q: How much a nurse assistant is making per hour? Is the shift schedule flexible?
Hi. Could you please let me know how much a nurse assistant makes per hour at hospital? I also would like to know how many hours they work (I would like to work from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.). I live in Raleigh, NC. Thank you very much in advance. USA, Raleigh, NC.

A: In your area the average salary of a nursing assistant is $23,000/year. You can either work part time, full time, or even PRN. Sounds like you would want to work second shift which is usually 3p-11p.

Q: Why is the salary for an ANESTHESIOLOGIST and a PHYSICIAN'S ASSISTANT-NURSE ANESTHESIOLOGIST ?
Doesn't an anesthesiologist and a physician's assistant/nurse anesthesiologist know a same thing. If they do, how come the pay is so different?

A: The physician is still supervising the CRNA, he may not be in the operating or procedure room but there is always a anethesiologist somewhere. The Medical Doctor is a doctor, the CRNA is an advanced practice nurse.

Q: Do some nursing homes really train you to become a certified nurse assistant?
I am looking for a way to help others and be happy. I heard about certified nursing assistants. People work at nursing homes and sometimes acquire their certificate there to help boost the amount of CNAs. Do you know of any links for this? I did an online search for nursing homes but they seem to want experienced people working for them. Any advice?

A: Yes many nursing homes offer free CNA training provided that you work for them a set period of time. This site offers a listing of schools that offer CNA training www.4cnas.com You can also contact your state registry for a listing of accredited CNA training programs in your area. The contact information for the state registry can also be found on this site. The state registry will tell you if any facilities are having CNA training. This site offers an online message board that may be of some help. They also list financial aide and scholarship information.

Q: What qualifications need to be met to become a reistered nurse/medical assistant?
what qualifications does someone have to meet if they wanted to become a registered nurse or medical assistant? What do i have to look forward to in regards of troubles, challenges and patience. I would only like answers from people who are currently or have been through nurse schooling. please tell me the most difficult challenges in your own expirience. thank you.

A: First of all, being a Registered Nurse and being a Medical Assistant are two very different things. As an RN, you need the minimum of an Associates degree from a college. For nursing, that usually takes about 3 years. It is currently very competitive to get into the clinical phase of nursing school and your grades in not only the science courses such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology need to be very good, but your Algebra, Eng Comp, Psych and other non-science pre-reqs should be at least a 3.50 (if not a 3.75). As far as Medical Assisting....you can get this certification in about 9 months to a year from almost any vocational/technical school and the classes are usually "integrated"....you won't have to take Algebra or Chemistry and unless you are in a community college's program, you won't need the algebra or English comp or psych classes. I'm sure you know that medical assistants are trained to be skilled in the technical realm and are usually quite proficient at drawing blood, giving injections, and assisting the doctors/practitioners with exams and minor tests/procedures. RNs are educated to not only perform this technical skills, but learn how to assess a patient, perform a physical exam and they practice under a license they earn from their state.

Q: What is a great college for being a nurse assistant.?
My friend, wants to be nurse, assistant to work with babies. :))) What is a good college for that, and how long does it take to be a nurse? How much does it pay? P.s Can you list links or addresses? for websites? Samantha

A: How old are you guys? I am a registered nurse. Nursing assistant are also called CNA. To become a CNA, you don't have to go a college. It's a one month course and all they want is high school degrees. Also, you don't just get to work with babies. Many hospitals don't hire CNAs for Mother-baby unit. They will rather use you in a floor with adult floor where you wash older people and change their diapers. Why does your friend want to be a CNA? It's a dead end job. You make only $8 to $11 an hour. You work long hours and you don't have time for your self. Tell her to go to college and become a Registered nurse. It's a respectable position and you make good money as well. CNAs are not considered nurses. They are assistant to nurses. Don't go into that profession. Become someone higher.

Q: I have an Associate degree in Medical Assistant. I want to become a Registered Nurse?
Certificate Nurse Assistant, Associate degree in Medical Assistant. but now I want to become a Registered Nurse where I don't have to take unnecessary perquisites classes. please help! Do you know of any colleges, online or campus. prefer Arizona

A: You have to get an Associates in Nursing to get a RN. You need to go to a local community college and talk to them Tell them you are a CNA, and you want to get an ADN/RN Some of your classes will transfer. It may not even take you the full two years to complete. I know alot of people who were CNA's working on ADN/RN at the hospital where I volunteered.

Q: how old do you have to be to become a certified nurse assistant?
I am a sophomore and i was wondering if you have to be 18. (thats what i assume) But i am planning to go to the university of wyoming and major in a B.S.N. and becoming a registered nurse. Thanks you. also i live in wyoming if that helps.

A: In some states you only have to be 16. I started my training at my vocational school when I was 15, though they have gotten tougher about not starting patient care until you are 16. I was working as a CNA by my 17th birthday. Call some local CNA programs to see if they would accept you. It is GREAT experience if you want to be a nurse, I think all potential nurses should do it! The pay isn't bad either, so go for it if it is legal is Wyoming.

Q: What is difference between Senior living Nurse Assistant job and Home health care job?
I am working as a nurse assistant in a senior living center and looking for Home health care job what is better? In pay wise and job wise? which job is harder? give any background info u may have.

A: I have been a certified community health worker since 1996. I have worked in both home care and nursing homes. I have noticed that Nursing homes pay more than home care and the hours are more stable than home care. The home care agencies I worked for could not guarantee Full time hours and I found myself doing mostly 24 hour live in work to make ends meet. This would be a good job to suppliment your income. Some home care agencies are very busy and others are not. If you do come across one that is busy, then you might not have any problems getting fulltime work. However a car is essential in home care. In the nursing homes I found the hours to be regular and easy to schedul things out side of work. Most Nursing home positions I found were Union positions. If there are any problems while working in a nursing home - you have the union to help you when dealing with management.

Q: is medical assistant and patient care technician nurse assistant is the same thing? do the same tasks?
im going for medical assistant and some people say that patient care tech and nusre assisant do the same task? which i disagree. please do not tell me the salary.

A: patient care technician Often referred to as a certified nursing assistant, patient care technicians are skillfully trained professionals that provide hands-on care to patients in hospitals, physician's offices and nursing homes. As a patient care technician, you will generally always work under the direct supervision of a nurse (RN or LPN) or a doctor, reporting to them any problems you may find or suspect with your patients. You will provide the largest majority of face to face care to the patients and spend the most time with them. Nurse assistant CNAs provide much of the direct care that is given to patients, particularly in home health care or nursing home settings. Nursing assistants help patients with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting and bathing, as well as transporting patients and providing support to both the patient and his or her family. They also monitor the patients condition, taking vital signs and maintaining or checking medical and personal equipment such as catheters. CNAs assist patients with wheelchairs or other assisting devices and may lead patients in therapeutic exercise or other activities to increase strength and range of motion.

Q: Best place to get my nurse's assistant license?
I need to get my nurse's assistant license by next year, but I am having trouble finding a good place to take the class. Any suggestions?

A: My county offers CNA courses at the adult education school, and also at my community college. I am taking a CNA coures at the college right now. It was a good deal because my financial aid actually paid for the program. Good luck :)

Q: The main differences between a care assistant and Nurse?
I have got to do an essay on the differences between a care assistant, nurse and GP, when looking after someone in there own home, can you please gives me some ideas Thanks

A: Depending on which way you want to write essay, you can make either look better. Here are some of my thoughts, hope they are of help. Care Assistant Takes "Care" of the patients every need. Whither washing hair, changing bed clothes etc. If the patient needs injections or procedures done a nurse would be more qualified than a care assistant. Nurse has more medical qualifications on paper, but this doesn't necessary mean they are the best care giver. The Doctor really only diagnoses problem and gives instruction for care assistant and nurse to follow. Good Luck with essay.
